Coastal Defender Stormtroopers, better known as Shoretroopers[1], were units of Imperial Stormtrooper that were utilized by the Galactic Empire. They were used to defend Imperial bases that were located on planets with small islands, such as Scarif[2].

Formation[]
At some point during the early Galactic Civil War, these stormtroopers were added into the Imperial Army to be utilized purely for combat in tropical climates[3], such as jungles and shorelines.
Galactic Civil War[]
Due to their exclusive use in tropical and shoreline areas, Shoretroopers were not used very often during the Galactic Civil War, with the only known battle that Shoretroopers took part in was the Battle of Scarif[4], which was one of the most important battles during the early Galactic Civil War. However, although the Galactic Empire won the battle against the Rebel Alliance, all of the Shoretroopers stationed on the surface of the planet Scarif were killed when the Death Star fired on the planet.
It is unknown if Shoretroopers participated in any other battles during the Galactic Civil War, as not many other battles took place on tropical planets during the war, although it is possible that some Shoretroopers could have been stationed on Kashyyyk, due to its large jungle and ocean environment.
Legacy[]
Almost thirty years after the end of the Galactic Civil War, however, a Shoretrooper helmet was kept in the possession of First Order Agent Terex[5], a former Imperial Stormtrooper, aboard his personal starship, the Carrion Spike.
